After the breeding on Friday, Cami became really sick and went to the ER early Monday morning, 1:30 am to be exact. I sat in the waiting room and met with doctors where I decided to admit her so she could get fluids and have the attention that I could not give her. I got home around 4:15 and went to sleep for a bit woke at 6:30 to take Dillon to cross country practice, then went back to bed. I did not sleep well until after 10:00am once I spoke with the vet about the plan to help Cami recover. She bounced back and was sent home Tuesday evening.
So now, we wait... I can not have her ultrasound done until next Thursday 8/6/09 at 6:00pm. The waiting continues...

Keeping our fingers crossed
Today we bred Cami, now all we can do is wait to see if she gets pregnant. She was surgically inseminated this morning, the surgery went well and she is home recovering. She has to return to see the doctor on July 21st to have her staples removed. We will be having an ultrasound done at the end of the month to hopefully confirm pregnancy. Keep those fingers crossed, we really want babies.

More and More Testing
We have been testing Cami's progesterone levels for over a week now and on Friday they went up to .02. I took her in this morning for a blood draw, will do the same tomorrow and then on Wednesday they will draw and test her levels for an increase. I do not expect any significant rise this week either. Cami takes a long time for her levels to go up. She has to get to 2.5 then we will breed her about four days later. We still have a long way to go.

Progesterone Testing
We began progesterone testing on Friday, the result was very low as I expected (.01). Second test was this morning, I expect it to be low as well. Once it begins to go up I will post more info. I just sent off the contract for my stud. I am going with Simba for this breeding.

It's About Time
Cami finally came into season last night after almost a years since her last one. Now I have to start taking her in for blood tests so we catch her at the right time for breeding. I think we will breed her in about two and a half weeks from now. I will be posting updates more frequently as more information is available.

Puppy Update
I expected Cami to come into season in February, but, it didn't happen. Nothing has happened in March either. It is a waiting game and one that has made me impatient. I know many people are interested in this litter and I want everyone to know there is nothing I can do to make it happen any faster. I will continue to post updates as they happen. Thanks for your patience.

Puppies Planned for Spring 2009
Well we tried to have a litter this summer but it just didn't happen. So, I have been looking at a Brindle male and a Red male as possible sires. I have wanted Red puppies since I fell in love with the breed so I am leaning that way. If I use a Red male we could have Red Brindle as well as Red Fawn and Red puppies. If I use the Brindle I will only have Brindle puppies. How hard can it be to decide? I love them both!!
You can see the boys I am looking at for Sires on the following websites:

Dog of the Festival
Sunday morning, September 7, 2008, Cami participated in a fun match and won the "Best in Show" honors and later that day, during the Grand March of dogs, it was announced that Cami had been awarded the Dog of the Festival. This meant a lot to us as Cami had worked hard this year, she became a Champion, and she was the only girl from Molly's litter. She is a good girl and has the sweetness of her momma.
Highlands Festival, It's a Tradition
After a quiet summer, it was time to get back to school for myself and the kids and that meant attending the Highlands Festival in Estes Park. The weather was cold on Friday, warmer on Saturday and hot at times on Sunday. This year the set up was different and activities were organized and ran on schedule. Cami participated in the Terrier races which drew a large crowd at every race. During the first race Cami broke a toenail, but it didn't get to her she was focused and determined to get the "fox tail" soaked in raccoon urine. Watching her run you would think she was part Terrier.
Dori Turns 8 Years Old

Dori made it to 8, on April 24, 2008 we celebrated her birthday. However, we had a scary month before Dori's birthday. She ended up getting pyometra and had to be spayed. We were very lucky she had no complications and made it through surgery just fine. So, for her birthday I took her to have her pictures done. Isn't she a beauty!
Molly 2/4/08

In October 2007, Molly was diagnosed with Lymphoma. After many tears and research we decided the best treatment for her would be to provide her with supplements to help boost her immunities. She provided us with much love and companionship and a beautiful litter of puppies, but on February 4, 2008 it was time for her to cross the Rainbow Bridge where she will wait for us to meet her someday.

2 Points
Denver, Colorado
When Monica and Cami got back to Colorado for the largest show in Denver, Cami earned 5 points over the four day weekend. Her final point in Denver, came on 2/18/08 under Judge Mr. Norman Herbel. What a busy weekend! Thank you to all the judges and to Monica for taking care of our girl. Only 2 points to go...
The Points Begin to Roll In
Monica began to show Cami in Rapid City, SD on October 19, 2007. This was the beginning of their working relationship and they were getting to know each other. Cami traveled with Monica to California and placed 1st and 2nd in her class and took Reserve Winners several times as well. Once they got to New Mexico they had begun to click and the points started to come her way. Cami collected 1 point in Hobbs, NM under Judge Mrs. Donna J. Buxton.
2+ years waiting
From the 5 point major to a long dry spell. Cami was showing well but had the mentality that, "I'm working for mom and Kelsey so there is no need to show off, they love me anyway." She was placing 1st and 2nd in her class and was getting Reserve Winner frequently but was unable to earn that Winners ribbon until we put a handler on her. Introducing... Monica Lamontagne. I met Monica when she was doing her college internship, she told me she showed dogs, which I kept in mind while showing Cami and being disappointed with the results I was getting. I talked to her at one of the dog shows and asked her if she would be interested in showing Cami for us. She agreed and then the work began. Cami spent some time with Monica learning to be a show dog and having to earn extra attention, and Monica learned how easy it is to groom short haired dogs. See her link for more information about Monica.
A long time coming

5 Point Major
It has been a long time since I have provided any updates. So I am going to get caught up on some history. Cami began her show career on February 14, 2004 and took 1st place in the puppy class. From there she continued showing and earned her first point in Pueblo, CO on November 27, 2004 under Judge Mrs. Joan P. Anselm. She continued to hold her own and do well but did not earn any more points toward her champion title until she took a road trip to South Dakota where she earned a 5 point major again under Judge Mrs. Joan P. Anselm. Our daughter, Kelsey was the handler and at age 11 she beat adult and professional handlers.
